Welcome to Ascension Episcopal Church. We appreciate visitors and all baptized Christians are invited to receive Holy Communion. Page numbers in the bulletin refer to The Book of Common Prayer (the red book in the pew) and the hymns are found in The Hymnal 1982 (the blue book in the pew).
If you are new to the Episcopal Church, you may notice people will stand, sit, or kneel at various times. You may also notice some people bow or cross themselves at various times. The general rule of thumb is to sit for instruction, stand for praise of God, and stand or kneel as it feels best for you. Many people, for physical reasons, have difficulty standing or kneeling. Other people, from other traditions, may not be comfortable standing or kneeling. We welcome all Christian traditions at Ascension.
During communion, you may kneel or stand at the communion rail. If you wish to receive communion, hold out your hand palm up. If you do not wish to receive communion, you may remain in your seat or you may come to the rail, fold your hands, and the priest will ask for God’s blessings on you.
If you would like to receive communion but, are unable to come forward, please let us know. We will be honored to bring the communion elements to you where you sit.
